Philip G. Robida had a"... short but warm love affair..." with Mary Amelia Southward while he was recuperating on leave in South Hampton, England from injuries received as an American soldier. That love affair resulted in the the birth of a son, Mel Laraway and only found out about him in the last year and a half of his life. - Mel recounts his story here.

One evening, (JAN 2012) My widowed mother said...." Well, you know Jack Laraway was not really your father!, He (your Father) was an injured American soldier on recuperation leave in England, South Hampton. His name was Philip Robida"

After making contact with Philip, Mel Laraway travelled from his home in Australia to finally meet his biological father and half brother and sisters. Philip, a little skeptical, asked for a paternity test which revealed that "...Philip Robida was most likely to be my father by the DNA test 99.99999%.
