I often run into Christians who know that Jesus is the Son of God, but they're reluctant to think of Him as God. It is a difficult concept because our human minds cannot comprehend such mysteries. You can find many references to Christ as being the Son of God, or the Son of Man, but most people don't realize that there are references in the Bible that point to Christ literally as being God. Here are some of them.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ISA 9:6
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. GE 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. JN 1:1-3
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. JN 1:10
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. JN 1:14
No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known. JN 1:18
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?" "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?" For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. RO 11:33-36
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. HEB 1:1-3
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us." MT 1:22-23
A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." JN 20:26-29
Jesus said, "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." REV 1:8
Jesus said, When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. REV 1:17-18
The twenty-four elders said to Jesus, "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." REV 4:11
Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth--to every nation, tribe, language and people. He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water." REV 14:6-7
The answer to the question, "Is Jesus God?" is not difficult to answer if you look at the scriptures and believe that they literally are the Word of God. The evidence is overwhelming. The answer is, Yes! Jesus is God.
