Two Important Truths

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 1TI 4:1
It is possible for well meaning Christians to believe doctrines of demons. There are two things every professing Christian must know if he wishes to grow in the truth of his faith.
The first truth that must be accepted is that the Bible is God’s Word, without error, and it is complete.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
It is the standard by which all things spiritual, are judged.
The apostle Paul says in Romans 15:19, “...I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. “
There is nothing more to add.
The apostle Paul also says, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” RO 1:16
The Bible is capable of thoroughly equipping us for every good work, and saving us from eternal hell.
The second truth that must be accepted is that in the history of the world, no human, past, present, and future, with the exception of Jesus Christ (He is truth), is more reliable than the truths found in the Bible. The writers of the Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit when they wrote, but they too were not perfect, although what they wrote was and is perfect because it was inspired by God. Today, God may inspire men to write, but isn’t it interesting that no other writers have had their writings incorporated into the Bible. That is because it is already complete. There is nothing anyone can add to enhance it.
It is important to embrace these two truths so that when someone claims to speak for God, you will not only be willing, but also able to verify the validity of what is being said. God may reveal new things to men, but it will never contradict what He has already said in His Word. We have already seen in the Scriptures, that the Gospel that we already have is not only good for equipping us for every good work, but it is also good for salvation. Consider carefully then, any new revelations supposedly coming from God, because His Word is supposed to already be complete. Don’t let any man deceive you. Be on your guard against those who would try to steer you away from the true Gospel... the true Christ. Read the Word of God daily, with the purpose of knowing Him, so that if the time comes, you may be able to challenge some doctrine that has just enough truth in it to confuse even the most conscientious Christians, but in reality is a doctrine of demons. I’m not saying that the one preaching such a doctrine is a demon, but that he may be preaching a doctrine that he somehow acquired from demons. We have a responsibility to that brother to set him straight, correct or rebuke him (2 Timothy 3:16), not only for his own good, but also for the good of the congregation. That is one reason we have denominations today. Someone taught a false doctrine and it was believed by the congregation, and not challenged because either they were ignorant of what the Scriptures said, or they were afraid to challenge the preacher.
In the past, they did have somewhat of an excuse because Bibles were scarce, and sometimes even forbidden among the people. Today, we have no excuse. God’s Word is plentiful, and very inexpensive. We have the resources to know God more than at any other time in history. I have several different Bibles in my house, and I know many Christians who do also. There is no excuse for anyone to be deceived because the apostle Paul says,
“...For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand..." 2 Cor 1:13
But don’t take my word for it.
