"Of all the advice that we can offer your holiness we must open your eyes well and use all possible force in the matter, namely to permit the reading of the gospel as little as possible in all the countries under your jurisdiction. Let the very little part of the gospel suffice which is usually read in mass, and let no one be permitted to read more. So long as people will be content with the small amount, your interest will prosper; but as soon as the people want to read more, your interest will fail. The Bible is a book, which more than any other, has raised against us the tumults and tempests by which we have almost perished. In fact, if one compares the teaching of the Bible with what takes place in our churches, he will soon find discord, and will realize that our teachings are often different from the Bible, and oftener still, contrary to it." Excerpt from an address given by a group of Cardinals to Pope Pius III, National Library of Paris, Folio No. 1068, Vol. 2, pp. 650-651.

"On this universal level, if victory comes, it will be brought by Mary. Christ will conquer through her, because He wants the church's victories now and in the future, to be linked to her." - John Paul II, from "Crossing the Threshold of Hope"

"The Word became flesh to make us partakers of the divine nature.......For The Son of God became man so that we might become God. The only begotten Son of God, wanting to make us sharers in His divinity, assumed our nature so that He, made man, might make men Gods." - Catechism of the Catholic Church, page 128, section 460

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:1-5 NIV

These Scriptures, which the Roman Catholic Church reveres, proves that at least in two areas, they have turned away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions.  Why would they continue to follow their long held traditions of forbidding their priests from marrying and commanding their followers to abstain from eating meat on Fridays, especially during Lent?  Their very own Scriptures warn them that they have turned away from the faith by adhering to these practices.
